L’impétueuse
︎︎︎ Installation, Les Inaudibles, 2016

Site specific installation along the banks of the St. Lawrence river.
This piece is an impression; all sounds were gathered using hydrophones and microphones in the Lachine Rapids area. It was played back for visitors during the series Les Inaudibles.
Les Inaudibles presents performances by Montreal artists who have been thinking on the use and display of works dealing with ‘field recordings’. ”

I will be constructing a temporary structure at the river's edge in Lachine, sized to accommodate a small audience of one or two. I hope to encourage reflection and deep listening by constructing what I envision as an amphitheatre in situ, located to place participants at an ideal perspective for observation. This will be an unguided listening, with no designated performance, though there will be an installed media element; prepared and found sounds captured from the same location will be played back into the auditorium structure, and cycled in and out during the course of the early afternoon hours. Anybody will be free to come and participate, rain or shine, Monday May 23, starting at 1:30 PM till 4:30 The project is named for the turbulent character of the Rapids, as was apparently once stated by a well known settler of the area.
